How to publish a Lovable app (step by step, 2026)
Prices and facts checked 2026-10-15 on each tool's official site. Plans change often, so confirm before you pay.
Publishing turns your Lovable project into a live web app at a link you can share. Lovable hosts it for you, with HTTPS included. Here's the whole process, based on Lovable's own documentation.
1. Click Publish
In your project, click Publish in the top-right corner of the editor, next to Share. (On a narrow window it shrinks to an icon.) You can also type "Publish my app" in the project chat, but publishing from chat counts as a build message and uses credits. Publishing from the Publish button is free, even with zero credits.
2. Pick your address
Lovable suggests an address ending in lovable.app. Keep it or edit it. You can change it later in Project settings → URL subdomain.
3. Choose who can see it
Public (anyone with the link) is the default. On Free and Pro plans you can also choose Invite only.
4. Read the security scan
When the dialog opens, Lovable runs a roughly 10-second quick scan that checks database access rules (Row Level Security mistakes), dependencies and more. Findings don't block publishing by default, but fix anything marked critical first.
5. Click Publish again
When it says Your website is live, copy the link and share it.
Updating your live app
Publishing deploys a snapshot. New edits are not live until you click Publish → Publish changes. A small dot on the Publish button means you have unpublished changes.
Using your own domain
Connecting a custom domain needs a paid plan (Pro is $25/mo). Domains you already connected keep working if you downgrade.
Common problems
- Old version showing: you forgot Publish changes.
- "Build errors need fixing": click Try to fix and let Lovable repair it.
- Site works in Lovable but not on another host: set your
VITE_environment values on that host and rebuild. - Free site went offline after a year: Lovable can unpublish Free-workspace apps with no visits and no owner logins for 12 months; republish to bring it back.
Before you share your Lovable or Bolt app
Three quick checks that catch the most common beginner problems:
- Page loads but can't reach its data after you deploy somewhere else? Vite apps (what Lovable and Bolt make) bake
VITE_settings in when the app is built, so add them to your host's environment settings and rebuild. - Using Supabase file storage? Open Storage and check each bucket. Files in a public bucket can be opened by anyone with the link: fine for logos, not for user uploads.
- Using a Supabase database? Make sure Row Level Security is turned on for every table that holds user data, so people can only see their own rows.
